Born in Calgary, Canada. Studying at Zurich University of the Arts and Tokyo University of the Arts. 

Emily Hughes is currently living in Tokyo, Japan. Her inquisitive nature has led her down many paths of exploration in a variety of mediums–from oil painting and watercolour to sculpture, and Textiles. She paints miniatures, no larger than an inch, to several meter-long tapestries and continues to explore new media and subjects.

Her work often depicts people, places, and objects from her life. Nature, patterns, colour, light, and awe for the beauty of nature and the visual world deeply inspire her. Emily has exhibited in Canada and internationally in Zurich and Tokyo.
